Yooperlite
Yooperlite is a term used to describe a type of rock or mineral that is found in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, particularly along the shores of Lake Superior. The name "Yooperlite" is derived from "Yooper," a term used to refer to people from the Upper Peninsula.
What makes Yooperlites unique is their fluorescence under ultraviolet (UV) light. When exposed to UV light, these rocks emit a vibrant and colorful glow, often appearing in shades of yellow, orange, and green. The fluorescence is attributed to the presence of a mineral called sodalite.
